Administration
A graduate in development economics (Sorbonne University), François Macarez began his career working on projects in developing countries, particularly in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, for funding agencies (French Development Agency) and NGOs.
He then joined the pharmaceutical industry in 2004 at Pierre Fabre, where he spent 16 years in various roles abroad (notably in Argentina and Mexico) and in France (supply chain, operations, general management), primarily in the development and manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
François then worked as a freelance business development consultant before joining Seqens' CDMO business unit as Global Marketing and Business Development Director. Since April 2024, he has held the position of CEO of Diverchim, a Drug Substance CDMO based in the Paris region speciqlized in the development and manufacturing of new chemical entities. Diverchim is a preferred partner (due to its ability to produce small GMP volumes) for numerous startups and biotech companies in the development of their drug candidates, including oligonucleotides and peptides.
In 2016, François co-founded Apotheka Active Ingredients, a company specializing in active ingredients of natural origin (for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and nutraceutical industries).
François co-organized, along with Philippe Barthelemy and Nicolas Babault, the first French symposium on Therapeutics oligonucleotides, held in 2025.
He is also a board member of France-Chimie Ile-de-France.
